As part of a goodwill visit, the Australian Naval Ship HMAS Success, an Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment ship arrived at Chennai Port on Monday, 22 August 2016 for four days. Defence Attaché Australian High Commission, Captain Sheldon Williams and Captain Justin Jones, Commanding Officer of HMAS Success met Rear Admiral Alok Bhatnagar, Flag Officer Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Area and discussed issues of mutual interest. The visit is expected to bolster Navy-to-Navy cooperation and is an indicator of the importance given by Australia to India.
The visit of HMAS Success will encompass professional exchanges and interaction between personnel of both the Navies in various cultural, social and sports events. The ship will depart Chennai on Thursday, 25 August 2016.
