XXXIV Indian Coast Guard Commanders Conference

Hon’ble  Raksha Mantri,  Sh Manohar Parrikar, inaugurated  the 34th Coast Guard Commanders Conference at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi on 28 Sep 15. The conference was attended by senior officers of the Ministry of Defence, and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) which included the Director General and the Additional Director General.  The conference is held annually, where all Regional Commanders put forth the roadmap for future and discuss various policy and strategic issues with respect to operations, acquisitions, human resources, training etc. A brain storming session which lasts for 3 days, carves out a futuristic vision for the service and also determines the means to overcome the challenges by best utilisation of the available resources at disposal. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri said that India’s unique geographical disposition affords us a unique leverage in the Indian Ocean, one that must be pursued for our national objectives and more importantly one that needs to be safeguarded diligently.         

Conveying   appreciation to all personnel of the ICG for serving the nation with utmost professionalism, courage and dedication the Hon’ble RM said that he was pleased to know that since its inception in 1978, the Indian Coast Guard has rendered yeoman service and has played a pivotal role in safeguarding the maritime interests by ensuring safe and secure seas for the safety of the seafaring community.

The Raksha Mantri promised all help from his ministry while pursuing the critical cases of the service effecting the growth and operational efficiency be it the manpower or new acquisitions.

The three day annual conference will also be attended by The Chief Of Naval Staff.
