Commodore Puneet Kumar Bahl has handed over over the reins of Indian Navy Ship (INS) Rajali to Captain Vinod Kumar Pisharody at INS Rajali Naval Base, Arakkonam today. The Commodore has commanded INS Rajali for a period of about 3 years and 3 months during which the air station achieved remarkable growth in all aspects. During his tenure as commanding officer the air station was awarded the 'Unit Citation' for the year 2013. The officer has played a vital role in the induction of the prestigious P8I aircraft. The officer is promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral and will be moving to Headquarters, Integrated Defence Staff (IDS), New Delhi.
INS Rajali is a premiere Naval Air Station of the Eastern Naval Command. The station undertakes diversified naval air operations. Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance (LRMR) aircraft like TU142 and P8I are based here.
Captain Vinod Kumar Pisharody who has taken over command had served in the capacity of Captain (Air) at INS Rajali since May 11. The change of command ceremony was held in the Naval air station after the 66th Republic day celebrations. As per the naval tradition, Captain VK Pisharody inspected the Maritime Reconnaissance Ceremonial guard and reviewed the platoons of naval personnel drawn from various squadrons/units of the air station.
